PROF — Official Rules of the Power Republic Open Federation
1. General Provisions
1.1. PROF is an international open federation of strength sports.
1.2. All competitions are conducted remotely with mandatory video recording of attempts and/or in the presence of an official judging panel (the competition format is specified in the regulations of each specific event).
1.3. Athletes from all countries are eligible to participate.
1.4. Unified technical rules, weight classes, and age divisions apply to all competitions.
2. Disciplines
2.1. Squat.
2.2. Bench Press.
2.3. Deadlift (conventional or sumo).
2.4. Online Powerlifting Triathlon (total of three lifts).
2.5. Special formats:
- One Shot (one attempt only)
- Max Shot (unlimited number of attempts)
- Max Reps (maximum number of repetitions)
3. Athlete Categories
3.1. Weight Classes
Men: 60, 75, 90, 105, 120, 140, 140+ kg
Women: 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 90+ kg
3.2. Age Groups
- Juniors (under 18)
- Open (18–39)
- Masters I (40–49)
- Masters II (50 years and older)
4. Equipment
4.1. Squat
Required equipment:
- T-shirt with a round neckline; sleeves must not cover the elbows.
- Singlet. Knees must be fully visible.
- Footwear (training shoes, weightlifting shoes, etc.).
Allowed:
- Knee sleeves or knee wraps (athlete’s choice).
- Elbow sleeves or elbow wraps.
- Wrist wraps.
- T-shirts with non-slip material on the back.
Prohibited:
- Squat suits or any similar supportive equipment.
4.2. Bench Press
Required equipment:
- T-shirt with a round neckline; sleeves must not cover the elbows.
- Singlet. Knees must be visible.
- Footwear.
Allowed:
- Elbow sleeves.
- Wrist wraps.
- T-shirts with non-slip material on the back.
Prohibited:
- Bench press shirts and any supportive bench equipment.
4.3. Deadlift
Required equipment:
- Singlet with knees visible.
- Footwear.
Allowed:
- T-shirt with sleeves above the elbow.
- Elbow sleeves.
- Wrist wraps.
Special notes:
- Any equipment not listed must be individually approved by the federation.
- Adaptive equipment for athletes with disabilities is permitted with prior approval.
5. Equipment Standards (Bars)
Olympic bars and specialized powerlifting bars are permitted.
5.1. Squat
- Maximum bar diameter: 30 mm
- Bar weight: 25 kg
5.2. Bench Press
- Maximum bar diameter: 29 mm
- Bar weight: 20 kg
5.3. Deadlift
- Minimum bar diameter: 27 mm
- Bar weight: 20 kg
Plates may be of any standard type; weight must be confirmed by video-recorded weighing prior to the start of the competition.
6. Attempts (Online Format)
6.1. Athletes may perform an unlimited number of attempts during preparation.
6.2. Only one uploaded attempt per lift is judged and counted.
6.3. Once submitted, an attempt cannot be replaced after the deadline.
6.4. Any video editing, cutting, or alteration is strictly prohibited.
6.5. In other competition formats (e.g., maximum number of sets), all attempts must be recorded on video.
7. Judging
7.1. Each attempt is evaluated by three certified PROF judges.
7.2. Decision system:
- White light — good lift
- Red light — no lift (two red lights = failed attempt)
7.3. Judges must state the reason for a no-lift decision.
7.4. Appeals are permitted.
8. Technical Rules
8.1. Squat
- The hip crease must descend below the top of the knee.
- Movement must be controlled, without double bouncing.
- Contact with the rack is prohibited.
- Full extension in the top position is required.
- Commands:
The judge gives the “Squat” command and a downward hand signal after the athlete assumes a motionless position with the bar on the shoulders.
The second command, “Rack,” with a hand motion toward the rack, is given after the lift is completed.
8.2. Bench Press
- Shoulders and glutes must remain in contact with the bench at all times.
- A clear pause of the bar on the chest is required.
- Full arm lockout must be demonstrated.
- Partial foot contact with the floor is allowed (toes, inner or outer edge of the foot).
- Pressing the bar into the chest is prohibited.
- Commands:
The judge gives the “Start” command and a downward hand signal once the athlete holds the bar motionless with arms fully extended.
The second command, “Rack,” with a hand motion toward the rack, is given after the lift is completed.
8.3. Deadlift
- The lift must be continuous.
- Hitching is prohibited.
- At the top position: knees fully extended, shoulders back.
- The bar must be lowered under control.
- Commands:
The judge gives the “Down” command and a downward hand signal once the athlete holds a motionless top position (knees locked, shoulders positioned behind the hip joint).
The athlete initiates the lift independently, without a start command.
Any separation of the bar from the platform is considered the start of the attempt.
9. Video Requirements
Mandatory conditions:
- Horizontal video orientation only.
- One continuous, unedited recording.
- Fixed camera position.
- Athlete, barbell, and depth/lockout must be clearly visible.
- Minimum resolution: 720p.
- Audio is required.
Information displayed on screen or in caption:
- Athlete’s name
- Category
- Barbell weight
- Attempt number
- Date
- Country (optional)
Equipment weighing on video (if judges are not present):
- Plates shown close-up.
- Bar shown with visible markings.
- Weighing may be performed before or after the attempt.
10. Athlete Weigh-In
10.1. Weigh-in may be performed before or after the attempt.
10.2. The video must show an empty scale, the weighing process, the athlete’s face, and the final weight displayed.
10.3. Permitted attire: underwear or standard competition briefs.
11. Disqualification
An athlete is subject to disqualification if they:
- manipulate or edit video footage,
- use prohibited equipment,
- declare incorrect barbell weight,
- behave disrespectfully toward judges or athletes.
12. Results and Rankings
12.1. Only the best valid attempt is counted.
12.2. In the triathlon, the total of the three best attempts is counted.
12.3. In the event of a tie, preference is given to:
- the athlete with the lower bodyweight.
12.4. Team rankings are calculated based on assigned points.
13. Appeals
13.1. Appeals must be submitted within 24 hours after results are published.
13.2. All appeals are reviewed by the PROF commission.
13.3. Decisions of the commission are final.
14. Submission of Materials
14.1. All videos must be uploaded through the PROF athlete portal or the competition platform.
14.2. Submissions after the deadline are not accepted.
14.3. The system automatically confirms receipt of the attempt.
15. Federation Rights
The federation reserves the right to:
- amend the rules,
- use athlete media with their consent,
- conduct special events and online challenges.
16. Code of Ethics
Athletes must:
- respect competitors,
- follow technical rules,
- uphold fair play,
- maintain sportsmanship and appropriate conduct.
17. Athlete Agreement
By registering, the athlete confirms:
- acceptance of PROF rules,
- consent to the processing of personal data and media materials,
- willingness to comply with anti-doping procedures.
